FIELD GUIDE 01
Your first hour in Outposts
In your first hour you build a settlement that can feed a small army, and send that army to a camp other players fight too. The game's chapter guide leads you through ten steps; this guide follows the same route and explains each one.
Choose a name and a kingdom
Start as a guest or sign in with Google. You choose a name first: other players will know you by it beside your kingdom, as in "Aldric of Ironvale". Then choose your allegiance: Ironvale, Greenhold or Sunreach. Your kingdom stays with this settlement, and each kingdom has its own troops.
Build in this order
A new settlement starts from bare ground, and nothing else can be built until the Main Building stands. The chapter guide then asks for five more buildings, one line of reason each:

| Step | Build | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Main Building | Unlocks every other building. |
| 2 | Lumber Yard | Wood for building. |
| 3 | Farm | Food feeds your troops. |
| 4 | Stone Quarry | Stone for upgrades. |
| 5 | Iron Mine | Iron for troops. |
| 6 | Barracks | Train troops here. |
Recruit a 15-troop party
Fifteen troops are enough for a Sapling Nest, the first camp tier. Troops train in the Barracks while you do other things; you can close the tab and come back.
Join a shared Sapling assault
Camps in Outposts are shared: every player attacks the same enemies, and the damage one army does stays for whoever arrives next. Send your party to the nearest Sapling Nest from the Map. If other players are already working on a camp, the Map's Shared assaults list shows it with its condition, how many players have contributed and how long its clock has left. While your party marches, the guide suggests building Storage, a Tavern and Merchants.

Read your first report
Every attack ends in a report. A win reads "All defenders eliminated" and your survivors bring cargo home. If the camp holds, the report shows how many enemies fell and how many are still standing; that damage waits for the next army, yours or another player's.

Keep your troops fed
Every troop eats. If your army eats more than your fields grow, the game warns you with a countdown: "Food runs out in …". When the store empties, the hungriest troops at home starve until the rest can be fed. The next step in the chapter is to upgrade your Farm, because more troops need more Food. Troops away on an expedition do not starve.
Then grow your Main Building
The last step of the chapter is to grow your Main Building; the game's reason is "Build and train faster." After that, read the logistics guide and shared camps and guilds.
