FIELD GUIDE 04

Hearthmender's Crook: commission, crafting and band choices

Hearthmender's Crook is a Signature staff earned through the Workshop commission Mender's Trust. It trades some direct healing for protection, making it a situational choice for a band with a fragile ally.

How to obtain the first Crook

  1. Unlock Hollow Prairie.
  2. Find and accept Mender's Trust in the Workshop.
  3. Win 20 encounters in Hollow Prairie after accepting the commission. Earlier wins do not count toward this commission's progress.
  4. Return to collect the reward, with room available in Storage.

Craft another roll

Completing the commission teaches its pattern. A repeat craft costs 10 Raw Materials and 100 Silver. The repeat uses the item's normal generation rules, so a new copy can have different rolled stats. It is not a guarantee of a stronger roll.

Where it does not come from

The Crook is a commission-and-pattern item. It is excluded from enemy drops, the Merchant and the random Forge. Repeating enemy fights without accepting the commission is not a way to obtain it.

When to consider changing your band

The Crook's intended use is protecting a fragile ally through Hollow Prairie's repeated fights. Its direct healing is reduced by 20%, so it is not an unconditional healing upgrade. Compare whether protection keeps a useful attacker alive against whether the band needs more immediate recovery.

Keep your ordinary healing option and try the Crook on the same destination before changing another member. Check the live item description for recipient, timing and Shield limits; do not assume that multiple copies create unlimited protection.

Check your installed version

This guide follows the current Workshop catalog. If the commission is absent, check your installed game version and dungeon unlocks. Use the in-game Workshop and item description for current availability and exact values.
